The walaycho, or "hualaycho" is the smallest member of the charango family. The charango is a typically Bolivian musical instrument originating in the city of Potosí: the indigenous peoples of Latin America were inspired by the guitar brought by the Spaniards to create this small instrument.
These kinds of small guitars have 10 metal strings and come in three sizes: walaycho (high pitched), charango (mid-range) and ronrocco (low pitched).
